My name is Sebastian Mayer and I am a senior at Cold Spring Harbor High School on Long Island, New York. Learning about the declining horseshoe crab population and tracking program at Teddy Roosevelt's Sagamore Hill as a kid inspired my fascination with using data to protect marine life. Today, I run Green Gold Coast Environmental Consulting and partner with racquets facilities to recycle discarded tennis and platform tennis balls, keeping microplastics out of local landfill and waters. I volunteer at the Cold Spring Harbor Fish Hatchery, am the Social Media Intern for the Three Harbors Garden Club's Soft Plastics Reduction Program, and recently planted Phase 1 of the "Courtyard Living Classroom" native garden at my high school. Growing up on the coast, I am an avid boater, and play varsity tennis, soccer, and wrestling.
