This 3-hour, interactive professional learning workshop will be hosted by EarthEcho International and Patriots Point to provide South Carolina elementary, middle, and informal educators with tools to engage students in citizen science around water resources. During the workshop participants will: 

  • participate in citizen science by testing the health of local water sources utilizing a World Water Monitoring Challenge test kit provided for each teacher;
  • learn how to connect youth to local environmental issues through Going Blue: A Teen Guide to Saving Our Oceans, Lakes, Rivers, & Wetlands and get your copy signed by one of the authors - Philippe Cousteau, Jr;
  • explore Patriots Point hands-on programming that allows students to gain a deeper understanding of - and excitement for - science;
  • connect with award-winning television host, producer, author, speaker, philanthropist and social entrepreneur, Philippe Cousteau, Jr. around his work as an environmental advocate and storyteller.

A $50 travel stipend will be provided to the first 50 educators who register.
