Step 4: Submit Your Data

After testing your water and taking action, it’s time to share your findings with the world. Submitting data turns local observations into a global story of water stewardship.

Why Submit Data?

  • Students contribute real science to a global database
  • Compare your results with peers locally and worldwide
  • Help scientists, community leaders, and other students understand water health trends

How to Submit

  1. Create an account on MonitorWater.org
  2. Enter your data from your tests and actions (temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, turbidity, macroinvertebrates, water projects, and more)
  3. Review and submit to make sure your results are accurate
  4. Explore the global map to see how your waterway compares

Tips for Students

  • Double-check units and measurements
  • Ask questions if you see unusual results — unexpected findings are valuable!
  • Take photos or notes to document your testing site

Want to Go Further?

  • Combine data from multiple sites for a larger project
  • Track trends over time with repeated testing
  • Share findings with classmates, your school, or local partners

➡ After submitting data, move to Step 5: Reflect & Share Your Story to celebrate and inspire others.
