Step 1: Plan Your World Water Day

World Water Day can be as simple as one class period — or expanded into a multi-day project. Start by choosing your focus and gathering the materials you need. No prior water science experience required!

What Is the EarthEcho Water Challenge?

The EarthEcho Water Challenge empowers students to become community scientists by testing a local body of water and contributing their findings to a global database.

Students:

  • Collect real water quality data
  • Analyze and interpret results
  • Take local stewardship action
  • Upload findings to MonitorWater.org

Choose Your Plan

Decide what works best for your classroom:

✔ One-Day Experience
  • Introduce World Water Day
  • Test local water
  • Submit data and discuss results
✔ Multi-Day Investigation
  • Introduce World Water Day
  • Test local water at multiple sites and compare
  • Take stewardship action
  • Submit data, discuss results, and share your stories

  • Materials are ready
  • Students understand safety procedures
  • You’ve scheduled time to upload data

Once you’re ready, move on to Step 2: Test Your Water.
